The OllyDog Team
]]>Bad puns aside, we have the solution to keep you and your pup hydrated on every adventure! In this product spotlight, we are sharing OllyDog's patented design, the OllyBottle.
The OllyBottle is a slobber-free, water-sharing system for you and your pup! The unique design includes a detachable dog bowl that easily snaps onto the water bottle. You simply pop off the bowl, pour some water inside, and give your dog a drink without contaminating your own water supply.
We've all offered our dogs some water only to sacrifice our own thirst after watching them repeatedly lick the mouthpiece of our bottle. Of course, we love our dogs, but their backwash? Not so much. Use the OllyBottle and share water, not slobber.
What we really love about the OllyBottle is that it's all one piece. No more cumbersome packing that includes a separate dog bowl or their own water supply. The OllyBottle has a lightweight design that provides a convenient way to carry and a sanitary way to share.
Quality material is very important to us at OllyDog. The OllyBottle is made from non-toxic, recycled, BPA-free plastic; it is made to keep you both happy and healthy! When it comes to cleaning and care, the OllyBottle is dishwasher-safe and backed by OllyDog's product lifetime warranty.
The OllyBottle comes in two sizes. The smaller, 600-ml size is perfect for daily walks, and the larger 1-liter OllyBottle is ideal for hiking, long walks, or hot days. It is available in five fun OllyDog colors: Plum, Grass, Grey, Ocean, and Flame!
Treat yourself and your four-legged friend to a better way to share, or gift a new puppy parent this OllyDog essential! Stay safe on the trail, and remember, always keep water on hand.
Shop the OllyBottle and level up your adventures!
Happy Trails! If you didn't know, OllyDog's home state is colorful Colorado! Whether you and your dog are Colorado locals, or just visiting, we want to help you make the most of Colorado spring.
Here are five Colorado hiking trails you and your dog should check out:
Our first choice is located just outside our hometown of Boulder. Shanahan Ridge Trail is a 4.2-mile loop with a moderate rating, where dogs are allowed to explore off-leash. Prime time to hike this trail begins in March, so it's ideal for springtime adventure! Though we can't say this trail is a hidden gem, it's certainly less crowded than the mega-popular Chautauqua, where leash laws are in effect for dogs in all areas.
If you're up for a challenge, you can use Shanahan Ridge Trail to access Bear Peak, where a hard-earned view awaits you and your adventurous pooch at the summit.
If you want to access some of Colorado's most Instagram-worthy alpine lakes, look no further than Blue Lakes Tail; we'll warn you upfront, though, you'll have to work for them. This is a challenging, 8.7-mile out-and-back trail that takes half a day to tackle. Located in southwest Colorado near Ridgway (about an hour outside Telluride), Blue Lakes Trail allows off-leash dogs and grants access to three pristine alpine lakes: Lower, Middle, and Upper Blue Lake.
This trail can be dangerous in winter, which makes for possible risk on springtime hikes. Review the recommended safety precautions, check the forecast, and carry plenty of water! Done right, however, your day on Blue Lakes Trail will end with one happy and exhausted doggo.
This northern Colorado trail is the perfect place to let your dog run off-leash! A half an hour from downtown Fort Collins, Hewlett Gulch Trail is an 8.2-mile "lollipop hike" (an out-and-back trial with a loop at the end). Rated intermediate, this trail includes many water crossings and around a thousand feet of elevation gain.
Some stretches between water crossings are quite exposed; it can get too hot on summer days, but makes for amazing dog-friendly hiking in the cooler, spring weather!
Don't worry - there is an easy trail on this list! Evergreen Lake sits in the middle of the quaint mountain town, less than an hour from Denver. The 1.4-mile trail runs around the lake's perimeter, and while dogs are allowed, they are required to be leashed. Great for senior dogs, small dogs, or on the days when a stroll just feels better than a scramble.
After your leisurely, lakeside hike, we encourage you to check out Evergreen Brewery, where dogs are welcome on the patio; why not opt for an early start to patio season this spring?
Garden of the Gods Park is a must-see spot in Colorado Springs. Of all the hiking available at this scenic place, we are partial to the moderately-rated, 6.3-mile Garden of the Gods Outer Loop. Dogs can go off-leash on this trail, and it's ideal for seeing the iconic red rocks of the park. Spring hiking is a good way to avoid the crowds that flood the park in summer, and though the weather can be chilly, we know that's never stopped your four-legged friend.
In general, Garden of the Gods Park is a very dog-friendly place; your pup is even allowed in the gift shop!
Don't forget these spring hiking essentials as you prep for adventure:
A hip pack with a built-in waste-bag dispenser? Yes, please! Stay hands-free on your hikes with the Backcountry Day Bag, a pack with plenty of room for all their (and your!) trail essentials.
Every good boy or girl deserves a good harness for adventure! Our Alpine Reflective Harness features reflective piping for visibility and two leash attachment points. It's made from breathable, recycled material and has adjustable straps to ensure the perfect fit!
All hikers (and Coloradans) know the importance of staying hydrated. The OllyBottle is made from BPA-free plastic and includes a detachable dog bowl for slobber-free sharing. Stay safe on the trail this spring, and never hike without water!
Springtime hiking comes with the risk of rain, so you need gear that can hold up! Our Tilden Waterproof Leash & Collar is equipped with OllyDog's AuquaGaurd, a safe and protective coating that guards against wet-dog smell.
We get it, and we are here to help.

The Spikey Rugby chew toy was designed for dogs that love to chew and tug. It's crafted from a soft, all-natural rubber that is safe to chew and won't damage your dog's teeth. In fact, this toy's spikey surface helps clean your dog's teeth and gums. It's pain-free dental care incorporated into play. The Spikey Rugby will keep your dog happy and healthy - our kind of toy!
The Spikey Rugby is complete with a rope handle. The rope makes for easy throwing and provides a grip for those intense tug-o-war matches! Our new Waffle Ball is a great toy for curious pups. The Waffle Ball is durable and versatile: your dog can fetch, roll or chew! Made from our non-toxic and all-natural rubber, the Waffle Ball is safe for dogs with any teeth size.
Where the Waffle Ball really shines is its hollow design. This is so you can fill the ball with toys or treats, creating a puzzle for your dog! Just like us, dogs benefit from being mentally active. Adding this extra layer of stimulation to their play is a great way to help them learn and explore; it can also keep them entertained for a bit when you're unable to give them attention.
The Waffle Ball is intended for light to moderate chewers and dogs of any size. It comes in our festive Fiesta color that makes for excellent visibility in grass, sand or snow.
A classic, solid rubber ball that is here to appease the eager fetchers of the world! The Happy Camper Ball is ultra-durable and built to hold up to aggressive chewers. If you have a dog that never (ever!) tires of playing fetch, this is the toy for you.
The Happy Camper Ball is made from our safe, all-natural rubber. The tough material provides maximum bounce for maximum fun! It's not just for use on land, either. The Happy Camper Ball is an excellent water toy! Your dog can chase it off the dock or into the surf. It comes in our fun Mango color, so you can see it in the water as easily as you can on land.
C'mon, throw it again!
The new OllyToys are for you to engage your dog in impactful playtime. Your dog deserves high-quality toys that will match their activity level and energy. Shop the above designs to not only spoil your pup, but to keep their mind active and their tail wagging!

]]>Last summer, we posted The Hot Dog Blog, discussing ways to help your pup beat the heat of those sunny summer months. Now, at the opposite end of the year, we’d like to discuss something equally important: making sure your dog is warm enough during the chill of winter.
The winter solstice is now behind us, leaving longer days in its wake. With more daylight comes more opportunities for adventure! That said, the freezing temperatures aren’t going away anytime soon. So, how do you balance outdoor play with keeping warm?
We want you both to stay safe and warm this winter. Here are three ways to help your pooch through the chilliest time of year.
How cold is too cold when it comes to walking your dog? Though it depends on your dog’s size, breed and age, we can provide some general guidelines for walking adult dogs outside in winter.
With temps over 45℉, there’s usually nothing to worry about regardless of your dog’s breed. Small dog breeds will assume some risk in temps lower than 45℉ and serious risk when the temp drops below 32℉. Medium and large-breed dogs can handle weather that’s a bit cooler. For them, there is some risk under 32℉ and serious risk when the temp drops below 20℉. (Source: BetterVet.)
If it’s too cold to walk outside, try getting creative with ways to exercise indoors! We have known dogs who delight in chasing bits of kibble that are bowled across the floor, go cat-like crazy over a laser pointer, or even join their humans in dance parties!
It’s a natural time of year to move at a slower pace. If you enjoy snuggling under a blanket for movie night or making your favorite wintertime soup, we see no reason your dog should be left out of these comforts.
While we are confident you need no instructions for your cuddle fest, we do have a dog-friendly soup recipe to share!
Easy Chicken and Veggie Soup for Dogs:
Ingredients:
In a pot, combine all ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the veggies are tender. Be sure to let the soup cool before serving! A general rule for feeding your dog warm food is to match the food to a dog’s ideal body temperature, which is between 101-103℉.
Note: Avoid ingredients that are not dog-friendly, such as onion and garlic. Always check with your vet before introducing new foods to your dog's diet.
Whether your dog is coming inside from a quick potty break or a full day of play in backcountry powder, it’s important to dry them off properly. This isn’t just so they don’t ruin the carpet, it’s because keeping dry is an essential part of keeping warm.
Like us, dogs have a harder time regulating their body temperature when they are wet. Although shaking dry is a good start, you can help the process along by toweling them off. Hang a towel by the door for when your pup comes inside. Wipe their paws, and if they’ve been rolling around in the snow, give them a full pat down!
When introducing this process to your dog, it’s helpful to create positive associations with their towel. Reward with treats as you dry, or use their towel in a play session. If you want to truly spoil your pooch, throw their towel in the dryer for a few minutes while they’re outside. Who doesn’t love a warm, fluffy towel?
As outdoorsy people with outdoorsy pooches, we want to help you and your dog get outside any time of year. This is why we make durable dog gear that can withstand any weather! At the same time, it’s important to be mindful of how the cold might affect your four-legged friend.
Of course, all dogs are different. Some rejoice in the winter wonderland, while others burrow under blankets to hunker down and wait out the cold. However your dog feels about winter, we hope the above tips will add an extra dose of comfort to their season.
Here’s to winter warmth and waggin’ tails!

Here are four ways to support dogs for Giving Tuesday:
Did you think we were going to miss out on the action? Not a chance! In honor of Giving Tuesday, when you make a purchase on OllyDog.com of over $50, we will donate a Vagabond Travel Bed to our friends at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley!
This offer is valid from now until December 3rd, so it’s the perfect time of year to stock up on OllyDog’s adventure-ready gear! Treat your four-legged friend to something special and provide a shelter dog with a cozy bed this winter in the process - what could be better?
Shop to Support the Humane Society of Boulder Valley!
This organization has been helping us create a more inclusive world since 1942. Guide Dogs for the Blind provides free services to connect visually impaired people with their perfect guide dog. This non-profit organization receives no government funding, so keeping services free to the public is dependent on donors and volunteers.
The long-standing history of the foundation speaks to its credibility and the impact it has had. They’re doing the important work of ensuring people can navigate the world with a sense of confidence and security - and that is a cause we can get behind!
Click here to support Guide Dogs for the Blind!
This volunteer-run animal shelter uses social media to connect Aruba's stray and abandoned dogs with potential owners worldwide. The dogs in their care often come from rough conditions, and many require intense medical treatment upon arrival at the shelter. These dogs are taken in, and their stories are shared on social media - @sgtpeppersfriends - with the hopes of crowdfunding their care.
Your donation directly supports their efforts to save struggling pups. Providing shelter dogs with everything they need from toys to medicine to a flight to meet their new family (you can even shop their wishlist on Amazon!).

Want to know a great way to witness the impact of your donation? Keep it local! Though there are many worthy causes out there, giving directly to your local animal shelter is a sure way to elevate your community. Show some love to the dogs in your own backyard by finding a dog-related cause close to home, then set up a one-time or recurring donation to support their work.
However you find yourself celebrating this day of generosity, we hope your dog is by your side and receiving lots of affection! We’ll leave you with this quote that we think perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Giving Tuesday:
“Be the person your dog thinks you are.”
Happy Giving Tuesday!
I’ve been an extra good pup this year!
Really, you can take my bark for it. No need to ask my “pawrents” - they’d definitely agree. To be fair, they miiiiight bring up the slippers incident of 2023… but don’t take that out of context! I was only trying to give Mom the excuse to buy a new pair.
Anyway, since I’ve been so good (unlike that squirrel who lives in the backyard tree), I thought I’d save you some time by writing down my holiday wishlist.
Here is what I - a very good dog - am hoping for this holiday season:
1) A bite of the Thanksgiving turkey.
2) The stylish Urban Journey Reflective Collar by OllyDog. However, I noticed that one of the cool colors it comes in is called “Anthracite.” I’d like to reiterate how I’ve been way too good to receive coal in any form. Though I’d recommend you send some to the mailman and the vet.
3) To be included in all the family photos this year (but it's okay to leave out the cat).
4) BELLY RUBS!
5) The Vagabond Travel Bed by OllyDog, so I can stay comfy and warm wherever we go. It's packable and portable so I'll never be left behind!
6) For the squirrel to fall out of the backyard tree.
7) A bite of the Christmas ham (and maybe a bit of dessert, too?).
8) The Flyer Disc by OllyDog. It’s the perfect toy for when I'm playing in the snow and get a case of the zoomies! It also floats, so we'll be beach ready when summer rolls back around. I could play fetch all year!
9) Butt scratches. Tis the season!
10) A bite of the Hanukkah brisket (would settle for a latke or two!).
11) A free pass to roll around in the mud and get as dirty as possible!
12) The Tilden Waterproof Collar by OllyDog. I’ll need tough gear that can hold up to my most ambitious outdoor activities (see item 11). The Tilden Waterproof Leash wouldn't be a bad idea either - plus it's on sale until the end of November. Adventure awaits!
13) Plenty of rubs in that sweet spot behind my ears.
14) You know those socks that some families hang over their fireplace? Can I have some? I think the humans look for stuff inside and fail to realize that the real treat is the GIANT SOCK! Silly humans.
15) Last but not least, the OllyBottle by OllyDog. That way, me and my people can stay hydrated on the many, many, many, many, many walks we are going to take in the year to come. Because of something my people call "excessive slobber," they don't like it when I drink directly from their bottle. The OllyBottle will be a better way for us to share.
Thanks for reading my holiday wishlist! I hope it’s been informative. I am simple to please, really. It just takes some extra treats, time snuggled up with my family, and maybe a box or two from OllyDog when it comes time for gift-giving.
If you provide me with the items from my wishlist this year, I promise to leave your milk and cookies undisturbed (unless you need help eating them, then I’m your pooch!). See you soon!
Sincerely,
Dogs Everywhere
]]>Whether you are heading to a party or passing out the candy, we know your dog will be right by your side (potentially in a matching costume) - and they surely deserve a few treats of their own! We thought we’d use the excuse of Halloween to discuss one of our absolute favorite OllyDog products, the Goodie Treat Bag.
A best-seller for a reason, the Goodie Treat Bag is for exactly what it sounds - treating your good girl or boy to a well-deserved treat!
As anyone who has trained a dog knows, having quick access to treats is key. Dogs make quick associations with their good behavior and the positive reinforcement of the following treat, but only if this is done fast enough. The window of opportunity is small at only a couple of seconds; if you’re fumbling in a pocket or fiddling with a zipper, you may just miss your chance.
The Goodie Treat Bag features a magnetic closure that offers easy access to the treats inside, perfect for making the quick associations that help your dog learn. Even when wearing gloves on frigid days, with the magnetic closure, you won’t be slowed down.
The bag has an adjustable waist strap with an easy-release buckle, so the Goodie Treat Bag can be worn as a belt bag or hip pack. You can also remove the bag from the strap and clip it anywhere with the included attachment clip. Attach the Goodie Treat Bag to anything: your belt loop, bicycle basket or the daisy chain of your favorite bag.
In addition to the main compartment, there is a zipper pocket on the front that includes an internal key leash for extra organization. The Goodie Treat Bag is made from recycled materials, and each one diverts three plastic bottles from landfills and waterways in the process! We believe in responsible manufacturing that protects the environment we and our dogs love to explore.
The Goodie Treat Bag is a prime example of what we at OllyDog do best: high-quality dog gear that is functional in design and sustainably made. Treat your dog - literally - by grabbing one today. (Pssssst! The Goodie Treat Bag also makes a great gift for trainers, groomers or any friends with fur babies!)
Trick or treating may be an annual practice for humans, but our four-legged friends do it every day. Level up your treat game with the Goodie Treat Bag.
We at OllyDog believe in big adventures! We want to help you and your pup venture into the great outdoors often, so we focus on dog gear that supports the adventure lifestyle. Our products are durable and built to last, and the products we are highlighting today will hold up to anything and everything! This OllyDog Product Spotlight focuses on our Tilden Waterproof Collar and Tilden Waterproof Leash.
Our Tilden Collection includes some of the toughest products OllyDog has to offer! Built to withstand the elements, the Tilden material used in this collection is extra durable and completely waterproof! We achieve this with OllyDog’s AquaGaurd, a safe and protective coating with anti-bacterial properties.
The AquaGaurd keeps the Tilden Waterproof Collar and Tilden Waterproof leash dry, so your dog can enjoy a rainy day hike or a dip in the sea! Though we love a wet dog, the wet dog smell is another story. The AquaGaurd coating also has anti-odor protection, so your gear won’t get stinky (though we make no promises about your dog!). When the time does come to wash them, the Tilden Collection products are super easy to clean; just use a dog-friendly soap, and they will air dry in minutes!
The tough Tilden material combined with the AquaGaurd coating guarantees your gear is ready for anything. So let your dog go wild, we promise that the Tilden Collection can keep up with the dirtiest, muddiest, wettest and most adventurous pups out there!
Now that you’re caught up on the Tilden material, let’s break down the features that are specific to the Tilden Waterproof Collar. This collar includes a plastic, easy-release side buckle and an aluminum D-ring attachment point for a leash. It also includes a silicon tag silencer to reduce the jingle noise of your dog’s tags. Available in four fun colors, the Tilden Waterproof Collar is soft, bendable, lightweight, durable and vegan!
Of course, the Tilden Waterproof Leash has its own specific features. The attachment clip is made from sturdy aluminum and features a swivel clasp that keeps the leash from twisting or tangling. The length of the leash is easily adjustable and ranges from 4 to 6 feet (48-72 inches). The handle features a soft and comfortable padding for your grip, and there’s a second short handle or “traffic stop” loop for the times when you need to keep your dog extra close. Available in classic black or eye-popping red, the Tilden Waterproof Leash is soft, bendable, lightweight, durable and vegan!
Because of the love that OllyDog shoppers have shown to the Tilden Collection, we wanted to offer a special deal for those who want to grab the collar and leash in one. The Tilden Waterproof Bundle combines both products at a discounted rate, so you can get more tough Tilden gear for less! When you shop the bundle, you’ll save over 25% of the cost of buying these products individually. So, if you love the concept of our Tilden Collection, the Bundle is the way to go!
We’d love nothing more than for your adventure dog to put it to the test! Now you and your dog can ski, bike, paddleboard, climb, swim or straight-up roll around in the mud without worrying about ruining your collar or leash.
Waterproof, weatherproof, adventureproof. The Tilden Collection is made for the dogs who play hard and the people who encourage them to go wild!

OllyDog Team
Growing up, we always had a dog or two as a part of our family (shoutout to Rue, Keno, Meadow, Amber, Sasha and Ivy), but I can’t say I took much responsibility in caring for any of those good girls.
It wasn’t until this summer that I became a dog owner myself, and the full scope of that experience has brought forth just about every emotion: joy, wonder, frustration, amusement, confusion, irritation, adoration, skepticism and awe. (I left out “exhaustion” since it’s technically not an emotion, but it surely deserves an honorable mention about my state.)
Today, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on bringing home a puppy; I know this is an all too familiar phase of life in the OllyDog community. And in case you’re also in the trenches of puppyhood, I wanted to remind you that you’re not alone in what is truly a special and difficult time.
Let’s jump in!
Meet Tonka, who found me through our friends over at the Human Society of Boulder Valley. She was just two months old when I brought her home. It makes me happy to know that I’ve now had Tonka for half of her life and that the latter half - with me - has included more comfort and stability than the former half when she was a wandering puppy on a reservation in New Mexico.
Like most shelter puppies, Tonka is a mutt. Like all puppies though, she came with her own set of quirks.
The early days of puppyhood, especially for first-time dog owners, are quite the trip. You know what I’m talking about. The multiple middle-of-the-night trips outside, apologizing to everyone you meet for your excitable and untrained pup, cleaning many accidents off the floor, learning how puppy teeth are the sharpest object in the universe (seriously, is this how we split the atom?!), having the words what did I get myself into play on a loop in your mind and giving the entirety of your camera roll over to those puppy dog eyes.
Tonka giving puppy dog eyes from her Vagabond Travel Bed by OllyDog.
Then, after about a week - or at least that’s how long it took for me - you settle in a little. I was surprised to learn that my settling behavior preceded my puppy’s, but now I don’t think it could have happened another way. Once I started to find my stride, Tonka found hers. Once I started feeling comfortable, you could tell she did as well. And the more confident we each became, the more confident we became in each other.
This was a new insight for me. In all my puppy preparation (and trust me, there was a lot of it), I had failed to realize something pretty big. Tonka and I would form our bond together - it wasn’t something I could predetermine before I brought her home. Because of this, it’s impossible to feel fully prepared to bring home a dog. Everyone will go through an adjustment period that will include moments of doubt (what did I get myself into), and that doesn’t mean you aren’t a capable dog owner.
That’s not the only thing I’ve learned in the past two months. About a week into having Tonka, my partner turned to me and said something I will never forget, “Don’t forget that she’s training us, too.” This reframe was really helpful to me when it came to relating to this new creature. When I get frustrated, it’s because Tonka is learning the limits of what I will tolerate and what I expect, which is a fair thing for her to do.

A friend of mine once said that to train a great dog, you have to cultivate three things: patience, consistency and compassion. I can tell you that in working with Tonka, I have been tested on all three. The number of times I have rolled an ice cube across the floor this summer to entertain her is astronomical (patience). Then there’s the challenge of using the same verbal commands every time I reward or discipline (consistency). Of course, there is also that swooning sensation in my chest which I’m pretty is the result of caring for something that depends on you (compassion).
I’ve learned that I can only expect Tonka to be as good to me as I am to her. If I haven’t provided a healthy option like a walk to get out that puppy energy, I can’t blame her when she’s running around my apartment and acting like a total spazz.

It’s true that puppyhood is a mixed bag. A few minutes ago, I had to pause and pull a piece of plastic out of Tonka’s mouth since she had ripped apart another stuffy. That said, having her around has brought more joy than I could have guessed. She makes me laugh out loud daily when she chases grasshoppers or walks around proudly carrying a stick. She loves to sleep in my lap, which is something I intend to let her do for as long as she can fit there. She even “sits” and “holds” like a champion.
I know it’s cheesy, but I’m really proud of us both.

So let this be your reminder, new puppy parents, that the little spitfire you’re caring for is doing great, and so are you! The ups and downs of puppyhood aren’t going anywhere, but while we learn from the downs, the ups make it all worth it - something I’m sure I don’t have to tell you!
Yours in Puppyhood,
Tess & Tonka

]]>Who could say no to those puppy dog eyes? Today is a great day to make a small donation to your local animal shelter; even five dollars can make a difference. If you have a rescue dog, this is a wonderful homage to the shelter that once cared for them. If your dog didn’t come from a shelter, donating to any dog-related cause is still a wonderful way to show your support. From the Colorado Pet Overpopulation Fund to Guide Dogs for the Blind, there are so many ways to support the dogs of the world.
Installing an at-home pet camera is a surefire way to celebrate your dog! In addition to the convenience of always being able to check in, this gift includes a lifetime of laughter over what your dog gets up to when you’re not home. Wondering what is the best pet camera on the market? We love the affordable and user-friendly Wyze Cam v3. A pet camera is a must for every dog-lover, it’s the gift that keeps on giving!
Doggie spa day anyone? There are many ways you can pamper your pooch that does't require the expense of a groomer. Bathtime can be fun for water-loving dogs, affection seekers will relish the attention of a doggie massage, or a refined pedicure could show some love to an older, patient pooch.
The Essence Game is guessing game that celebrates the personality of different pups. It's simple enough and requires two or more human players. One person acts as the "Thinker" and chooses a dog that is familiar to everyone playing. The other players then ask the Thinker questions that hint at the dog’s “essence” in order to guess the dog.
Example questions:
If this dog was a type of weather, what would it be?
If this dog was a different type of pet, which pet would it be?
If this dog was a musical instrument, which one would it be?
You’ll be entertained and amazed by this exercise. Because the game is a bit abstract, it sometimes works better with animal subjects than it does with people or characters!
We have all discovered the bottomless rabbit hole of funny pet videos on the internet, and chances are you have a few standout favorites. Send a silly dog video to a friend you’ve been meaning to reconnect with and spread that puppy love! Bonus points for sending a video of your own pooch. If you don’t have much footage of your dog, we’ll just drop that link again for the pet camera. Hint hint.
Lean into the fun of National Dog Day with one or all five of these ideas. Of course, browsing OllyDog products couldn’t hurt if you want to keep the fun going…
Happy National Dog Day from the OllyDog Team!
]]>Beating the heat can be challenging for humans and dogs alike, so here are three quick reminders for keeping your dog cool during the summer months. Let’s save the hot dogs for the ballpark this year.
Going out for a walk during the hottest hours of the day is uncomfortable at best. At worst? It can be downright dangerous. Capitalize on those cooler hours by walking your dog first thing in the morning.
Evening walks are a possibility, but they need to be treated with caution. While the evening hours do provide cooler air, the sun-baked pavement takes a long time to cool down. Watch out for your dog’s paws by never walking them on concrete or asphalt that is too hot. If you wouldn’t walk on it barefoot, it’s probably too hot for your pup.
Obviously, we don’t have the same weather everywhere, so use your best judgment (and maybe err on the side of caution). Keep in mind that a morning walk may very well be the safest bet.
Dog treats come in all sizes, shapes and these days, even temperatures. Frozen dog treats can be found in almost every grocery or pet store. Of course, the internet is also a bottomless source for DIY recipes! Spoil your pup with some cooler treat options this summer.
The coolest, easiest and least expensive dog treat of them all? The ice cube! Not every dog will be excited to receive an ice cube, but those who are, have lucky owners indeed.
If all else fails, the two of you can always go out for ice cream! And let’s be honest, is kind of the most fun option anyway. Do you have waffle cones? What about PAWffle cones?
We know this isn’t the first time you’ve read it this summer, but please stay hydrated out there. Drinking plenty of water is an important checklist item for your every day, and it’s no different for your pup. Check your dog’s water regularly, and expect them to go through it a little faster during the warmer months.
When you’re leaving the house, whether for a short walk or a long hike, make sure to carry enough water for two - good thing we made the OllyBottle, right? In case you’re new here, the OllyBottle is our smart solution to slobber-free sharing with your pup. It includes a detachable water bowl that you can easily snap off, then pour in some water for your pooch!
Whenever you’re outside, keep an eye on your dog for signs of Heat Exhaustion. The most common symptoms are excessive drooling and panting, but if your dog’s behavior is “off,” make sure to get them out of the heat and offer them some water as soon as possible.
By all means, enjoy your fun in the sun this summer! Just be sure you have a way to keep cool when the heat gets intense. So keep those OllyBottles close, and get out there! We know your pup is lucky to have you looking out for them.

Today, we wanted to highlight one of our favorite OllyDog products. A best-seller for a reason, the Vagabond Travel Bed is sure to be your pup’s next favorite comfort item. When you and your dog are on the go, having the Vagabond Travel Bed around will provide a safe and comfy place for your dog to relax. Made for indoor and outdoor use, set up the Vagabond Travel Bed in a kennel, camper or back of the car to help your dog settle into any environment.
The bed is made primarily out of recycled materials, including ultra-soft microfleece. The microfleece provides a great heat source during those cooler camping nights; the perfect way to keep your dog warm and comfy. The material doesn’t hold fur either, so it’s easy to keep the bed clean. If it does get dirty, you can throw it in the wash on a gentle cycle, and let it air dry. The Vagabond Travel Bed is durable and lightweight, made to be taken on adventure after adventure.
The reversible design ensures you can match the bed to any room during home use. The bed rolls up and is easily packable inside the included travel case. Add the compact design to the bed’s durability, and when adventure calls, your dog is ready in minutes (we make no promises about how long it takes you).
The Vagabond Travel Bed was such a hit that we had to share the love with our four-legged friends down the road. If you didn’t know, OllyDog is based in Boulder, Colorado. We are big fans of the work our friends are doing over at the Humane Society of Boulder Valley. Several members of the OllyDog team have adopted their furry friends from the shelter, and we wanted to give back as a gesture of thanks for their great work. Recently, OllyDog donated sixty Vagabond Travel Beds to the dogs at the shelter. We loved being able to bring some extra comfort to these pooches, and we will continue to support the shelter and its residents however we can.
A must-have for the adventurous dog owner, the Vagabond Travel Bed will add a layer of comfort to any environment. Get the most out of your own summer by setting your dog up for success. OllyDog products are here to provide practical solutions to everyday life with your pup. Nothing can stop the two of you now!

]]>Colorado Brewery List is a website dedicated to listing and filtering all the breweries in the Centennial State. The website has cataloged over 450 breweries and taprooms across Colorado, including their location, menu, hours and press articles. If you didn’t know about the Colorado Brewery List before, now you do. This is the kind of content we like to see!
Of course, we’re not just here to talk about brews. As dog lovers, it’s important to know where we can bring along our furry friends. Fortunately, “dog friendly” is one of the filters on the site, and the results blew us away!
There are 290 breweries and 15 taprooms in the state of Colorado with a patio that can accommodate your pooch. This massive number feels like an accurate reflection of how much we love our dogs and our craft beer. Looks like you and your pup can visit a new brewery every day for most of an entire year! From Pagosa Springs to Pueblo, from Aspen to Arvada, and from Fort Collins to Frisco, you can find a dog-friendly brewery on almost any Colorado adventure.
Of the total 305 listed, 112 of them are considered fully dog-friendly (the rest allow dogs on the patio). Over a hundred places where your dog is welcomed and the taps are flowing. This is going to be a good summer.
Since every brewery is unique (and since all Colorado beer is good), it didn’t seem fair to compile a list of the “top breweries.” Instead, we picked a handful of cities for a fun-filled Colorado summer and found a dog-friendly brewery in each. Should you and your pup find yourself in any of these awesome towns this season, we hope you grab a pint at one of the following picks!
Colorado Summer City Number One: Boulder
We know, we’re biased. But hey, OllyDog’s hometown definitely deserves this! With all the hiking we have around here, you’re going to want to know where you and Spot can go for that post-summit brew.
Dog-Friedly Boulder Brewery: Kettle & Spoke Brewery
With an intimate setting and affordable prices, this small brewery is a Boulder hidden gem! They also host private parties, if your dog is popular enough for that sort of thing.
Colorado Summer City Number Two: Nederland
Just west of Boulder and up the canyon, Nederland is the perfect place to spend a relaxed summer day “away from it all.” Mountain vibes without the excessive drive? Yes, please.
Dog-Friendly Nederland Brewery: Very Nice Brewing Company
With tons of events from live music to trivia to monthly potlucks, there is always something going on at Very Nice Brewing Company; you and your dog should get involved.
Colorado Summer City Number Three: Steamboat Springs
Has Steamboat made it to your Colorado bucket list yet? In the winter, Steamboat offers prime skiing with pristine views, but those views don’t just disappear the rest of the year! Hiking, fishing and charming mountain town fun are what you’ll find in a typical Steamboat summer.
Dog-Friendly Steamboat Springs Brewery: Storm Peak Brewing Company
With two dog-friendly locations in Steamboat Springs, Storm Peak Brewing Company is a must. Committed to keeping around the crowd-pleasers, as well as constantly brewing something new, there’s a beer here for everyone (okay maybe not Spot, but he’ll want you to have one).
Colorado Summer City Number Four: Buena Vista
Calling all adventure pups! Buena Vista is teaming with water sports in the summer, you and your dog can cool off by white water rafting or paddleboarding in this fun-loving town.
Dog-Friendly Buena Vista Brewery: Eddyline Brewery
Eddyline Brewery is dedicated to providing the good people of Beuna Vista with quality craft beer and an ambiance that inspires adventure. A perfect place to end an action-packed day, or plan your next one! With a pint and your pup, of course.
Colorado Summer City Number Five: Broomfield
The city of Broomfield has plenty of open space for outdoor play. With miles of trails perfect for those longer day summer dog walks, it’s a good place for dog owners to hang out.
Dog-Friendly Broomfield Brewery: Wonderland Brewing
The place to go out as a group of dog lovers! Tons of fun and games in the outdoor space, including a three-hole mini golf course. You and your dog are sure to have a ball in Wonderland.
Colorado Summer City Number Six: Fort Collins
This Northern city is getting popular for a very good reason! All the events and fun of Denver with less of a crowd. Fort Collins also offers access to tons of outdoor fun. A lake day at Horsetooth can only end one way, with a cold one. So where should you grab it?
Dog-Friendly Fort Collins Brewery: Maxline Brewing
Who doesn’t love food trucks, live music and craft beer? All are available here, you might just have to let the “beertender” pet your dog first.
Colorado Summer City Number Seven: Breckinridge
Breckenridge in the summer is such a special time! Escape into the cool mountain air and browse unique shops or take your pooch for a stroll along the Blue River.
Dog-Friendly Breckinridge Brewery: Broken Compass Brewery
There is something for everyone on the varied menu at Broken Compass, a brewery that has become a staple in the town of Breckenridge. The perfect place for you and your dog to rest after a day in the mountains together!
Let us know if you visit any of these spots (or if you find any amazing other ones)! Knowing that your dog can come along makes any experience better, and summer adventure is waiting for the both of you to get out there and explore! Keep the tails wagging and the beer flowing!
OllyDog Team
We've been thinking about it for a few years. We really wanted to get a companion for our other dog Cali who is 7.
Tell us about the first time you met your Pup?
We first saw his sister on the website for Pets in Need. When we went in to visit, Ollie caught our eye so we decided to visit him first. Our "get to know him" session told us immediately that we didn't need to look any further.
How long have you had Ollie and how old is he?
We adopted him in April 2022 and he is 7 months old now.
Favorite thing to do together?
We love going for a walk, taking him to his puppy school, and playdates with other puppies. We love snuggling with him a lot too.
Favorite OllyDog Product?
We love Goodie Treat bag in Odyssey Blue. We go everywhere with this bag.
You can follow along on all of Ollie's adventures by following him on Instagram! @olliethepitbull2022
We love seeing all of the adventures you have with your dogs! Tag us on Instagram (@OllyDog) for the chance to be featured on our account and for your dog to be the next OllyDog of the Month!
Whether you and your four-legged friend are hitting the forest trails or tackling tough mountain terrain, every adventure dog needs a good harness! The OllyDog Alpine Reflective Harness delivers with numerous comfort and safety features for all types of adventures.
The OllyDog Alpine Reflective Harness comes in three sizes and has four fully-adjustable straps for a custom fit. It has reflective features for safety, two leash attachment points, and a lift assist handle at the top for tough climbs. It’s also padded and breathable for comfortable all-day wear. You can easily take your pup from day hikes to nighttime hangouts around the campfire without switching gear.
Made from recycled, non-toxic, vegan materials, this harness is also super durable and easy to clean. Once the adventures are over the harness can simply be wiped clean. Or, if your dog had a little too much fun in the dirt, it can also be washed with a pet-safe detergent.
No matter what adventure awaits, you and your dog need water! The OllyBottle is the perfect way to keep both you and your pup hydrated while out and about. The OllyBottle features a separate pop-out bowl attachment to give your thirsty pup a place to drink while keeping the main water bottle clean and most importantly, drool-free!
The OllyBottle is durable, non-toxic, and BPA-free. It comes in two sizes and multiple colors. Perfect for parks, hiking, travel, beach days, or anywhere your furry friend tags along. No more carrying multiple bottles and bowls on your adventures. The OllyBottle is the perfect water bottle for you and your dog!
When embarking on an adventure with your dog no one wants to think about them getting lost but sadly, it happens sometimes. Even with all the best safety precautions, accidents happen and dogs wander off. When out in nature even the best-trained dogs may be intrigued by new sights, sounds, and smells. Next thing you know, they are off into the woods to chase a squirrel. While ID tags and microchips are still very important, GPS trackers can offer a way to track your dog in real-time should they end up out of sight.
The FitBark GPS is a great option that’s durable, waterproof, lightweight, and fits with most standard collars, including OllyDog collars. It can be a great sidekick to the OllyDog Tilden Waterproof Collar to keep your pup safe and secure through all their outdoor adventures.
The FitBark GPS boasts a wide range of satellite coverage including rural areas. You can easily track your dog through an app on your phone or smartwatch and get alerts when they are on the move. Hopefully, you’ll never need to use it but a GPS tracker can offer some peace of mind on your next hiking excursion or camping trip.
Accidents can happen anywhere but especially out on the trails. Your dog can encounter all sorts of potentially harmful things from sharp rocks to insect stings, it’s best to be prepared with a first aid kit. Adventure Dog First Aid Kits offer a wide range of kits for all types of adventures. These kits will come in handy for treating minor cuts, scrapes, and insect stings, or for removing thorns, splinters, and ticks.
If you have a larger dog that you do long-distance hikes with it may be worthwhile to add an emergency sling to your kit. An emergency sling can be a lifesaver should your dog get injured on the trail and need to be carried out.
A telltale sign of a good time in nature is a dirty dog! Whether they had a blast splashing in the creek or decided to pick up sticks in the mud, most dogs will undoubtedly leave the trail with dirty paws. A quick dip in the Mudbuster before you load them up in the car will easily remove grass, dirt, sand, and whatever other debris they picked up along the way.
Simply fill this special cup with water and the silicone bristles will gently sweep away all that dirt and grime from your pup's paws. The Mudbuster comes in an assortment of sizes and colors for all types of paws and is BPA-free. This paw-cleaning tool is a must-have for hiking trips, park outings, and beach days!
Now you and your pup are ready for whatever adventure awaits! For more awesome adventure dog gear check out the full lineup at OllyDog. Bon Voyage!

When we start planning camping trips in the colder months (including summers in the mountains where temperatures drop dramatically at night), you might want to bring a furry friend or two for company.
It can be difficult enough to keep ourselves warm on these camping trips, but we also have to do our best to keep our dogs warm.
Generally speaking, our dogs can handle the cold weather as long as it’s not below 45 degrees Fahrenheit. But remember that every dog has its own needs for staying comfortable in low temperatures, depending on its breed, age, health, and even personality.
These essential tips for keeping dogs warm while cold weather camping will undoubtedly keep your pet snuggly warm and safe so that they can enjoy the experience with you.
Warm up by playing!
In cold weather, staying active helps humans and dogs stay warm. You can go for a hike or play fetch with a Flyer Disc around the campground to warm up at any time, especially before going into the tent to sleep. If you start a campfire, keep your dog around you, as staying close is always a great way to warm up. Allow your pup to play and check their temperature.
Keep your dog dry
Make sure your pup stays dry when you're outdoors. You'll be outside for long hours, and when their coat gets wet, it's difficult to dry naturally. When the temperature drops, don't let them play in the snow or water.
If they do get wet, make sure they're completely dry before going to bed. You can keep them dry by always having towels on hand or letting them join the campfire with you to get warm.
Bring plenty of nutritious food, treats, and water
An easy one but probably the most important is keeping your dog healthy and fed with vitamins, food, and water.
In general, feeding them high-protein, nutrient-dense food is an excellent way to keep dogs warm. That extra food in cold weather can warm their body fast, boosting their energy level. If possible, bring canned chicken or beef and heat them before serving. Heating their food will also help keep your dog warm.
The protein and nutrients provide your dog with the energy he needs to maintain body temperature and stay warm during cold nights. Hydration is essential, too, so bring extra water with you. You can get a handy dog bottle like the OllyBottle, a travel bowl, and a backcountry day bag to keep all your dog needs for food and drink.
Try tent sleeping
Where is your pup sleeping when you're camping?
It's best to sleep in the same tent. This way, you can keep in check with your four-legged friend and stay warm together. Just make sure you have enough room for your pup. The temperature begins to drop when it gets dark, and dealing with the cold at night can be especially difficult. As a result, your dog must sleep somewhere warm and cozy throughout the night.
While many people probably already do this, it's especially important to do so during the colder nights when dogs can suffer greatly. Keeping them in the tent ensures that they are not exposed to the cold.
Another thing to think about is what your dog will sleep on. Take an OllyDog Vagabond Travel bed and plenty of warm blankets with you on your trip so you can add them to your dog's bed to keep them warm and toasty as the night progresses.
Dogs can have their own gear
Your dog can wear its own jacket and booties. Depending on their size, smaller dogs need extra warmth during the day, too. Jackets will keep their body warm the entire day.
The booties can help their paws from freezing in the snow. If you don’t have these items already, you need to prepare in advance and try them on your dog before going camping. Some dogs need time to get used to them. Be sure you buy the right products for your dog so it can be comfortable and safe all the time.
Larger breeds do well in cold weather during the day, but nights are harder for most breeds. It is best to know your dog and how well they do in cold weather and see what works best for you and your pup to stay warm during camping trips.
Final thoughts
Going on a camping trip is more fun with our furry friends around. But more than keeping ourselves comfortable, we also need to ensure that our dogs are staying warm during the trip.
Make sure to prepare beforehand. Bring the necessary nutritious food and dog camping gear that will keep our dogs comfortable even if temperatures drop. Play some games to warm them up and ensure their cozy sleeping space.
But if your dog is still uncomfortable because of the cold temperatures, be flexible and know when to cut your outdoor adventure short.

There are seemingly endless options for dog harnesses on the market today. From step-in to over-the-head harnesses and harnesses of all types of materials and functions. Some are padded for comfort, some are minimalist by design, and some are meant for high performance with extra straps and handles.
Considering what type of dog you have and what function you would like the harness to serve is key. Smaller dogs can usually get away with more lightweight harnesses or those made of mesh. While a bigger, stronger dog may tear those materials with one tug on the leash! If your dog pulls–you may want a more durable, padded harness or one with a front hook option for better control.
A good all-purpose harness that is highly adjustable, like the Alpine Reflective Harness, is a great option for any dog. It comes in three sizes and has four fully-adjustable straps for a custom fit. It’s also padded for comfort, reflective for safety, and has two leash attachment points. With an assist handle at the top, this harness is also great for active dogs that hike or run with their owners or that have mobility issues and need a little help. Whether your dog needs lift assistance into the car or up a mountain, the Alpine Reflective Harness has you covered!
While some dog gear may be characterized by weight or a generic small, medium, or large category, harnesses can be tricky. They are better fitted by taking your dog’s exact measurements. Weight can look very different depending on the dog. A basset hound, pitbull, and greyhound can all weigh 60 pounds but have vastly different proportions!
So grab your pup and a tape measure, and let’s get to measuring! A soft tape measure works best, but if you don’t have one you can use a string and measure it against a ruler once you are done. If your dog isn't too keen on sitting still for this exercise, take the measurements a few times to ensure they aren’t modifying the results with their squirmy bodies or wagging tails.
There are two main points on your dog you’ll want to measure. Their neck–at the base where their collar would naturally sit, and their chest–at the widest part of their ribcage. This is known as their girth. Once you have these two measurements, it should be relatively easy to match them up with the size chart for your chosen harness.
Some harnesses may have a strap that runs from the neck to the ribcage or along the back that isn't adjustable. In that case, you’ll also want to measure those areas on your dog. Many soft-sided harnesses meant for smaller dogs also have non-adjustable portions that sit lower on the neck, just above the chest, so it's important to read the size charts carefully and measure accordingly.
If you’ve measured your dog and they come up in between sizes–opt for the larger one or consider a different harness that is more adjustable. While you don’t want a harness to be too loose, one that is too tight can be dangerous and restrictive to your dog. When in doubt, go with the “two-finger rule”–a perfect fit should allow room for two fingers between the collar or harness and your dog’s body. This is to ensure it is neither too tight nor too loose.
If you’re having trouble finding a harness that properly fits your pup, make sure you are trying options that are highly adjustable. Because dogs can have such different body types, harnesses that have multiple adjustment points are always a solid choice.
Once you have your harness, you’ll want to ensure it’s comfortable and safe for your dog. Make sure it’s neither too snug nor too loose–remember the two-finger rule! Check the fit of it periodically as buckles can loosen over time with pulling or the fit can change with fluctuations in your dog’s weight.
Make sure the harness is not rubbing anywhere or restricting movement. Check your dog’s body for any friction points that may cause discomfort, especially under their front legs or armpits. If you find any redness, swelling, or hair loss in those areas, that could be a sign their harness is hurting them.
While harnesses can be a lifesaver on walks, your dog’s time in them should end at the door. Leaving your dog’s harness on for extended periods of time can cause them discomfort, especially when lying down. Some dogs may also find themselves caught on things like cabinet handles, door knobs, or crates. Dogs left in harnesses may also become irritated with them and attempt to chew them off. This can result in a host of problems, from choking hazards to broken teeth (from metal buckles) or your dog ingesting material that can cause intestinal blockages.
Once your dog is fitted in their new harness and ready to strut their paws on the street, you’ll want to ensure their leash is also ready for the adventure! While any old leash might do the trick, having one as comfortable and adjustable as their harness will make walks much more enjoyable for both of you.
The Urban Journey Reflective Leash is a great option to complement any harness. Its durable design is adjustable from 4 to 6 feet with a comfortable, padded handle. It’s also highly reflective and has a traffic stop handle for safety. The hardware is strong aluminum with a 360° swivel clasp to keep your dog tangle-free! The Urban Journey Reflective Leash comes in multiple colors, so it’s easy to match with their harness.
Here’s to more comfortable walks with your dog this year!

Colorado Pet Pantry, a 501(c)3 non-profit charity based in Boulder, has been filling bowls of hungry pets across the state since 2013. When families fall on hard times, they are often forced to give up their pets. Colorado Pet Pantry has helped keep pets in their loving homes and out of shelters by providing pet food when their owners cannot.
By partnering with local human food banks, Colorado Pet Pantry helps ensure every family member gets fed, including the family pets! You can help by donating a bag of food at one of their drop off locations or by making a tax-deductible donation online.
They also need volunteers to help at food banks and distribution centers. They have several locations across Colorado, so spread the word to family and friends. Check out their ways to give page for more information on how you can help feed hungry pets!
The Humane Society of Boulder Valley is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity that opened its doors to homeless animals in 1902! Since then, it has grown to provide shelter services, adoptions, veterinary care, and training help to the Boulder community.
On any given day, the Humane Society of Boulder Valley can have dozens of animals under its care. Shelter environments can be incredibly stressful on dogs no matter how well run. You can help brighten a shelter dog’s day by sending them a new toy!
You can pick a toy (or other much-needed items) from their online shelter wishlist. These items can be easily ordered from Amazon or Chewy and sent directly to the shelter. You can also make financial contributions online. All donations are tax-deductible and sure to brighten a shelter dog’s day!
Animal Rescue of The Rockies (ARR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue founded in 2003 on a mission to help homeless pets. They work with shelters and other rescues to foster and adopt pets in need of homes in Aurora and surrounding areas. To date, they have helped rescue over 10,000 animals!
You can help them with their mission by shopping at the ARR Thrift Shop in Breckenridge. Here you’ll find unique items, including gently worn clothing, books, art, housewares, and more. You can learn more about their volunteer opportunities and apply on their website.
Brighter Days Dog Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue based in Boulder with a unique and heartwarming mission. Their Brighter Days Hospice Program provides hospice dogs with foster homes to live out their final days in a peaceful and loving environment.
Sadly, many dogs are relinquished to shelters as they age or acquire medical ailments. These dogs are rarely adopted due to their age or high medical costs. That’s where Brighter Days comes to the rescue–placing these ill or senior dogs in foster homes where they will be loved and cared for in their end-of-life stage.
You can sponsor one of these sweet senior pups by visiting Brighter Days’ Meet Our Hospice Dogs page. Sponsorships go toward providing medical care and other necessities for the dogs. If you are interested in taking it one step further and providing foster care for a dog in need, check out their Become A Foster Parent page for more information.
The Handicapped Pets Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit charity that helps handicapped dogs (and other animals) across the US obtain a wheelchair. Like most medical equipment, dog wheelchairs can be expensive–especially ones that must be custom fitted. These can be difficult and costly for owners to obtain. The Handicapped Pets Foundation aims to help these pets live longer and more fulfilling lives by providing wheelchairs to those in need.
You can help fund a wheelchair for a pet in need by donating to the Handicapped Pets Foundation. Contributions can be made through their donations page and are tax deductible. You can also support the cause by purchasing one of their “Walkin’ Pets” calendars featuring adorable photos and stories of disabled pets who were given the gift of mobility by wheelchair.
The number of dogs in need across our communities can sometimes feel overwhelming, but rest assured, there are always ways you can help! No donation or good deed is too small when it comes to helping out animals.
If you cannot donate, you can always help spread the word by sharing charitable causes on social media, organizing fundraisers, or donating your time at a local shelter. Programs like Amazon Smile are also easy ways to help fund charities with everyday purchases you already make.
Whether you choose something from this list or find another charitable cause near and dear to your heart–giving is always in season!

No matter which stocking stuffer you choose, your dog will surely be in the holiday spirit with these new fun toys and treats. Remember to keep your cheerful pup safe and supervise playtime with toys. If your dog has a little too much fun and breaks their toys, they can become a choking hazard or cause a blockage if swallowed.
Also, remember that stomach issues can occur with overindulgence in special foods. If gifting your dog some special treats, don’t let them have too much at once. Just as humans can sometimes overindulge during the holidays and pay the consequences (hello, heartburn!), so can our dogs. Nothing spoils the holiday fun like a tummy ache or an emergency trip to the vet!
Have a happy and safe paw-liday season!

]]>Dogs can’t comprehend why their environment is changing; they just know it’s unsettling. While there is no fool-proof, stress-free way to move, there are things we can do to ease our pet’s anxiety and help them transition into their new homes.
Whether you’re moving down the street or across the country with your dog, here are five things you should know to help keep them safe, comfortable, and happy!
1. Make Sure Your New Location is Dog-Friendly!
It goes without saying that you should ensure your dog is welcome at your new home. While you may have already gotten the green light from your new landlord or HOA that pets are allowed, did you read the fine print?
Unfortunately, some places may present as dog-friendly but have restrictions on breed or size. Some cities also have local ordinances on certain breeds or requirements like health certificates, pet registrations, or rabies tags.
To avoid surprises, check for any restrictions or requirements that may exist in your rental agreement, HOA paperwork, or local laws.
2. Prepare Your Dog For The Big Move
In the days leading up to your big move, your dog will most likely know something is up. At best, they will be cautiously curious. At worst, they may turn into little anxious balls of fur! Help ease their anxiety by keeping them as close to their regular routine as possible. This means keeping their walking and feeding times as normal as possible. Dogs are very good at telling time!
As you pack, try to leave out some comfort items for them. Their bed is the most important, but also some favorite toys and/or blankets. Give them a safe space to relax away from all the clutter and noise. If they use a crate, great! Leave that out for them. If they don’t and you’re planning to use one during the move, start getting them used to it as soon as possible.
Ensure that your dog’s vaccines, parasite preventatives, and microchip are all up-to-date at least a few weeks prior to your move. If they are not, schedule a visit with your veterinarian before you move.
3. Moving Day Must-Dos!
Let’s face it–no matter how well-planned, moving days are usually chaotic! You may have movers coming in and out, lots of noise, doors will be left open, and it will be sensory overload for your dog. Some people choose to leave their dog with a trusted friend, family member, or pet sitter for the day. If that’s not possible, be sure to keep your dog safe and out of the way of movers.
Moving Day Checklist for Dog Owners
4. Safety and Comfort on Long Trips
Is your new home hours away? You’ll want to be prepared for that long drive. If your dog is not acclimated to car rides, start getting them used to drives in the weeks leading up to your move.
If your dog is overly nervous or prone to getting carsick, talk to your veterinarian about options. Some dogs may need medication. Nothing will make an already stressful move worse than a vomiting dog in your backseat!
You’ll want to keep your dog safe and comfortable on the road. Ensure they have a secure harness or collar, ID tags, and leash. The OllyDog reflective leash is perfect for this and will keep your dog visible on those night stops!
Road Trip Checklist for Dog Owners
If your drive is long, don’t forget to pack your dog’s meals and a travel bowl. Apps like Bring Fido can help you find dog-friendly hotels, restaurants, parks, and other accommodations along your route.
Remember that your dog may need more potty breaks than usual. All that excitement, plus the movement of the car, can lead to nervous peeing and tummy troubles.
5. Helping Them Adjust To Their New Home
Once you arrive at your new home, you can breathe a sigh of relief. You made it past the hardest part! Now it’s time to unpack, unwind, and enjoy your new digs. Just be sure to give your dog some time to adjust to its new surroundings.
Give your dog some familiarity by setting up their bed, bowls, toys, and other comfort items right away. Use treats and positive reinforcement as they explore their new setup.
See how they react to their new surroundings and check for any hazards or things that may make them uncomfortable. Things like stairs they aren't used to or tile when they had carpet can take your dog some time to maneuver around. Throw rugs, anti-slip mats, and gates can all be helpful if your dog is struggling with mobility on new flooring or stairs.
Be extra patient on walks as your dog sniffs and explores its way around a new neighborhood. It may take a few weeks before they are fully comfortable and confident in their new environment.
Soon you and your dog will be enjoying making new memories in your new home!

1. Chia Pet
The nostalgia is real with this dog costume. You don't need to wait to watch this Chia Pet grow! Make this adorable costume for your pup this Halloween by following the steps below.
What You'll Need:
To turn your pup into a live Chia Pet, begin with the cone-shaped terracotta pieces for the legs. These pieces have two layers: the inner layer, muslin, and the outer layer, orange felt.
First, sew the inner layer using muslin or another thin fabric so your dog has enough flexibility to sit/lie down. Then, sew the outer layer with an orange-colored felt that's also thin. When they're the same width at the bottom, place the muslin inside the felt layer and fold the felt layer under it. This allows you to sew both layers together with a single pass of the sewing machine. Repeat this process for the remaining leg pieces.
Your terracotta legs will need to be safely attached to your dog. We recommend creating fabric straps – similar to suspenders – to secure the leg pieces. You can use two straps to hold the leg pieces up and a cross strap to connect them.
After assembling your leg pieces, you're ready for the foliage! You can use felt to create a horse blanket and glue the foliage over it. Alternatively, you can buy a dog sweater and attach the foliage to that. Now you have your Ch-Ch-Ch-Chia Pet!
2. Beanie Baby
Now you can add another Beanie Baby to your extensive collection! This costume will have people turning their heads with an "aww."
What You'll Need:
First, print out two images of the TY logo. Print an image larger in size than your dog so your tag is adorably oversized. Next, tape the logo to the red felt and trace the design to cut your heart shape. After achieving the heart for your tag, cut the “TY” letters from the logo you printed and place them on white felt. Like your tag, trace the letters and cut them from your felt. Repeat this process twice so that you create both sides of the tag.
After you have your pieces, hot glue the letters to the heart. Then, glue both sides of your “TY” logo together, so it’s recognizable no matter where your dog sits. Finally, connect a ribbon to the back of it (hot glue is fine for this). They'll be photo-ready when you tie that ribbon around your dog!

3. Creepy & Cute Spider
Consider watching the Spider Dog Prank as inspiration for this costume. It's a YouTube Classic! If you want to get spooky this Halloween, bring your own Spider Dog to life with this costume from Martha Stewart. You'll get some laughs and screams when your pooch runs around with eight legs.
What You'll Need:
For this DIY, print out the body, leg, and diamond templates, which can be found here. Using the templates as guides, cut two body and sixteen leg pieces from the black felt and two diamond pieces from the orange felt. Sew the pieces together before stuffing them tightly with craft filling.
Once sewed shut, glue the two diamonds to the body piece for that signature Black Widow hourglass. Lastly, sew each leg on the body with the open ends, "sandwiching" your pup, and sew the body to the center of the shirt. Your spider dog is now ready to scare!
4. Pumpkin Spice Latte
What better way to celebrate this season than by paying homage to everyone's favorite Fall drink? This DIY costume is perfect for small dogs, but if you don't go tiny on your Starbucks orders, it'll fit your big dog just as well.
What You'll Need:
To create your "puppuccino," start by gluing an elastic band to the plastic coffee cup lid. You'll want to create a ruffle collar for the whipped cream. To do this, sew a long line of thread down a piece of knit fabric with an extra-long stitch. After sewing the entire length of the material, pull the fabric along one piece of thread to create your “whipped cream.”
The coffee sleeve is straightforward. Wrap the cardboard or craft paper around your dog's belly and tape it to your dog's shirt, leaving it a little long so it's not too tight. You can print a design and paste it onto the cardboard or draw it yourself with markers! Cheers to the cutest puppuccino around!
5. Sweet S’mores
Inspired by the gooey camping favorite, you don’t need a campfire to make this treat! This simple s’mores outfit is excellent for anyone looking for a last-minute DIY costume.
What You'll Need:
Start by cutting two squares from your cardboard to make your graham cracker. You'll need the bottom square to be small enough to fit between your dog’s legs comfortably. After sizing and cutting your cardboard, cut the brown felt to create your melted chocolate. Your felt design should be around the same length (top to bottom) as your white shirt. Next, hot glue the “chocolate” felt to the white “marshmallow” shirt.
The last, easy step for this costume is to glue your cardboard “graham cracker” to the bottom of the shirt. You can trim it as necessary before gluing the final cardboard piece on top. For larger dogs, consider gluing your cardboard to a piece of elastic. This way, you can slip it over your dog snugly and efficiently. Once all the pieces are attached, your pup will look so cute as this sweet treat.
