      A design issue quickly detected

I do not like to send harsh reviews for anything, but I will offer my input here because it may help inspire modifications to make this item safer.
For reference: I have a 20 month old Australian Shepherd, on the smaller side compared to most i have seen (barely 50 lbs). He does like to gnaw at things, particularly using his molars. When I showed him this toy, he immediately took an interest, and began chewing at the nubby surface. Within 15 minutes, both of the plugs, located at either end of the toy, came out, and he had one entire plug in his mouth, chewing on it. They are close to the size of a quarter. I took away the pieces, and he still liked chewing on the toy and playing tug with it. The cellophane "crinkley stuff" had to be pulled out, since the plugs provided containment for that. I'm glad it was on sale, or I would likely have been more annoyed...
I would buy something similar again, if the weak links in the design could be strengthened. The size, texture and shape is good for a medium-sized dog who isn't a very aggressive chewer, and likes tactile/sensory playthings.
